Vice President - Portfolio Manager - Private Markets

New York City Metropolitan area · Full-time · Hybrid · Fintech · USD 160,000 – 220,000

A leading alternative investment and financial technology platform is seeking an experienced private markets investment professional to join its growing portfolio management team.

The Vice President will serve as the primary Portfolio Manager for a newly launched registered evergreen investment vehicle designed for individual and wealth-management clients. Depending on the selected candidate’s background, the portfolio may focus on private equity, private real assets, or a combination of related fund investments and co-investment opportunities.

This is a highly visible investment role combining manager due diligence, investment underwriting, portfolio construction, liquidity management, portfolio monitoring, and investor engagement. The Portfolio Manager will play an important role in shaping the fund’s strategy, building the underlying portfolio, and supporting the continued growth of the platform’s evergreen registered fund business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the primary Portfolio Manager for a registered evergreen private markets fund.

• Develop and execute the fund’s investment strategy and portfolio construction framework.

• Evaluate and underwrite private markets fund investments and co-investment opportunities.

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence on general partners, investment managers, funds, companies, and underlying assets.

• Assess manager quality, investment strategy, track record, portfolio construction, sourcing capabilities, risk controls, and alignment of interests.

• Make investment and allocation recommendations across underlying managers, funds, strategies, sectors, geographies, and vintages.

• Manage portfolio deployment, diversification, liquidity, capital calls, distributions, cash requirements, and investment pacing.

• Monitor portfolio performance, valuations, exposures, concentration risks, and underlying investment developments.

• Maintain strong relationships with general partners and external investment managers.

• Prepare and present investment recommendations to internal committees and senior stakeholders.

• Lead or participate in discussions with existing and prospective investors, financial advisors, wealth-management partners, and senior industry professionals.

• Clearly communicate portfolio strategy, investment positioning, performance, liquidity, and risk.

• Support fundraising, advisor education, and the broader market positioning of the fund.

• Collaborate with Distribution, Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and other internal teams.

• Contribute to the continued development and growth of the firm’s evergreen private markets investment platform.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Approximately 7–12 or more years of relevant private markets investment experience.

• Meaningful investment experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Private equity fund investments

• Private equity co-investments

• Private infrastructure

• Private real estate

• Private real assets fund investments

• Institutional private markets portfolio management

• Fund-of-funds, secondaries, or multi-manager investing

• Experience conducting investment due diligence and making formal investment or allocation recommendations.

• Strong understanding of portfolio construction, diversification, liquidity management, investment pacing, and risk management.

• Experience evaluating general partners, investment strategies, historical performance, portfolio attribution, and fund terms.

• Exposure to both fund investments and co-investments is strongly preferred.

• Experience monitoring a portfolio of private markets investments and managing external investment-manager relationships.

• Experience participating in investor, fundraising, client, or financial advisor discussions.

• Strong qualitative, quantitative, financial modeling, and analytical capabilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Professional and confident demeanor, with the ability to interact effectively with senior investment professionals and external stakeholders.

• Ability to make well-supported recommendations and exercise sound judgment under pressure.

• Ability to operate successfully in an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and evolving environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Evergreen, semi-liquid, interval, tender-offer, or other registered private markets vehicles.

• Wealth management, private bank, RIA, family office, or financial advisor channels.

• Investment committee presentation experience.

• Experience launching or scaling a new investment fund or investment product.

• Direct responsibility for portfolio allocation or investment decisions.

• Experience translating institutional private markets strategies for individual investors and financial advisors.

• Infrastructure or real estate investment experience.

• Values-aligned, mission-oriented, or faith-based investing experience.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will be an institutional-quality private markets investor who combines rigorous investment judgment with strong portfolio construction capabilities and a polished, investor-facing communication style.

Candidates may come from private equity, infrastructure, real estate, real assets, fund-of-funds, secondaries, co-investments, institutional allocator, or multi-manager investment backgrounds. The specific investment mandate will be aligned with the selected candidate’s experience and area of expertise.
